How We Started

Arryn Sarasota, Florida

I started Seersucker Cottage after 20 years of advertising, tech consulting, and property management. While consulting, I flew 2 Million airline miles and stayed in hotels 160 night a year for work. Never wanting to stay in a chain hotel while on vacation, I moved from greater Boston to Hermosa Beach, CA ten years ago and fell in love with 850 square feet of joy, I nicknamed Seersucker Cottage. That cottage was the home of my heart and the inspiration for this brand.

In 2013, I opened my first Airbnb in Park City, UT called Snowglobe Cottage. I turned a futon and shag carpet crash pad into a revenue producing Airbnb where almost each guest comments on the style. It’s designed for guests, from performance fabrics, to a custom barn door baby gate, to flooring to withstand snow and ski boots.

Styling that listing, I went on to host multiple listings and enjoyed advising others. In 2018, my listing in Charleston was the first Charleston Airbnb Plus by invitation from the Design Team at Airbnb. This was a huge honor since I took an empty space and had guest bookings begin 5 weeks later. Four weeks after my first guest set foot into the listing, I launched Airbnb Plus in Charleston.

Seersucker Cottage is now coast to coast collaborating with realtors, property managers, investors, and hosts increasing rental style and appeal
